Liwale District Council Job Vacancies August 2026 – Medical Officer, Nurses, Plumbers (15 Posts)

Liwale District Council Job Vacancies 2026 have officially been announced in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) / Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian organization providing maternal and child healthcare services. The council is inviting qualified Tanzanian candidates to apply for 15 contract positions on a six-month contract.

Available Positions

1. Medical Officer Grade II (MO) – 1 Post

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical services in the hospital, including pediatric, obstetric, gynecological, general surgical, and emergency care.
  • Deliver and supervise community health education and health promotion activities.
  • Investigate, monitor, and control disease outbreaks.
  • Maintain health records and statistics according to MTUHA guidelines.
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate healthcare services.
  • Train students and healthcare workers.
  • Supervise subordinate staff.
  • Participate in teaching at health training institutions within the district.
  • Conduct medical research and disseminate findings.
  • Develop strategies to improve healthcare quality.
  • Prepare health service plans and budgets.
  • Participate in medical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide outreach healthcare services.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a government-recognized institution.
  • Completion of a one-year internship.
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
  • A valid practicing license.
  • At least two years of experience in a maternity ward and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Salary

Salary Scale: TGHS E (According to Government Salary Structure).


2. Assistant Nursing Officer Grade II (ANO) – 6 Posts

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care.
  • Collect essential health statistics.
  • Supervise junior nursing staff.
  • Educate patients and communities on health issues.
  • Provide reproductive and preventive healthcare services.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • A Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Valid nursing license.
  • Registration and enrollment with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).

Salary

Salary Scale: TGHS B.


3. Nursing Officer Grade II (NO) – 4 Posts

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing services in hospitals, communities, and healthcare facilities.
  • Collect health data.
  • Supervise subordinate nurses.
  • Provide home-based healthcare services.
  • Offer counseling services.
  • Prepare nursing work plans.
  • Deliver maternal and preventive healthcare.
  • Educate patients and communities.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized university.
  • Successful completion of internship training.
  • Valid nursing practicing license.
  • Registration with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • At least two years of experience in an operating theatre or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Salary

Salary Scale: TGHS C.


4. Plumber (WATSAN Agent) – 4 Posts

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect hospital water supply and sanitation systems regularly.
  • Repair damaged pipes, taps, and wastewater systems.
  • Ensure plumbing systems and water pumps function efficiently.
  • Prepare estimates for plumbing materials and maintenance projects.
  • Interpret building drawings for plumbing installation.
  • Assist in water infrastructure construction.
  • Advise the council on suitable water and sanitation technologies.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Plumbing Trade Certificate (Grade II or higher).

Salary

Salary Scale: TGHS A.


General Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Tanzanian citizens.
  • Be between 18 and 45 years old.
  • Attach a certified copy of their birth certificate.
  • Clearly indicate the position applied for in the application letter.
  • Submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) including reliable telephone contacts and three referees.
  • Attach certified copies of:
    • Form IV Certificate.
    • Professional Certificates.
    • Birth Certificate.
    • One recent passport-size photograph with the applicant’s name written on the back.
  • Note that Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statements of Results, and Form IV/Form VI Result Slips will not be accepted.
  • Ensure all information submitted is genuine. Forged documents will lead to legal action.
