The President’s Office – Youth Development has officially announced the preliminary results of the application process for concessional loans through the Youth Development Fund, with a total of 1,961 young people named as beneficiaries in the first phase.
This step is part of the implementation of a TZS 200 billion youth empowerment program aimed at boosting the economic capacity of young people across the country.
The announcement comes approximately one month after the opening of the first application window on March 21, 2026, which received a historically high response.
According to a statement issued on April 28, 2026, by the Office’s Communications Unit, the initial evaluation process has been completed, and the list of selected beneficiaries has already been submitted to CRDB Bank for final verification before the funds are disbursed.
All beneficiaries who pass the bank verification stage will be required to attend a special three-day training at zonal level starting in May 2026. The training will cover key areas such as business and financial education, proper use of loans, and skills development.
The Head of Communications, Information, and Public Education at the ministry, Mr. Innocent Byarugaba, stated that many applicants showed weaknesses in project writing and in properly submitting required documents according to the guidelines. Since the loan program is ongoing, the President’s Office – Youth Development has found it necessary to conduct training for young people.
He added that the goal of these trainings is to better prepare youth for future loan application phases, ensuring that more young people from various groups can benefit.
