The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS), on behalf of the Tanga Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (TANGAUWASA), has announced five (5) job opportunities for qualified and motivated Tanzanians. The authority is seeking competent, results-oriented, and self-driven professionals to fill the available positions.

Available Positions

1. Artisan II – Water Laboratory (4 Posts)

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the collection and testing of water and wastewater samples.
  • Conducting physical, chemical, and bacteriological analyses.
  • Participating in water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Recording laboratory investigations and findings.
  • Preparing chemicals and reagents required for water treatment.
  • Monitoring water quality from reservoirs, treatment plants, and distribution systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with drinking water quality standards.
  • Monitoring influent and effluent quality to meet acceptable standards.
  • Assisting in the preparation of periodic laboratory performance reports.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Form IV Certificate.
  • Trade Test Grade II / Level II / NTA Level 5 Certificate in Water Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

2. Engineer II (Electromechanical) – 1 Post

Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Participate in planning, designing, installing, and testing electrical systems.
  • Collect data on plant and electrical equipment to improve performance.
  • Prepare project proposals related to electrical engineering works.
  • Evaluate electrical systems through research and analysis.
  • Develop electrical solutions based on operational requirements.
  • Assist in testing, assembling, and monitoring electrical systems.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules for electrical equipment.
  • Participate in maintenance and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Assist in planning and designing mechanical systems.
  • Collect data on plant and mechanical equipment performance.
  • Prepare project proposals related to mechanical engineering works.
  • Develop and improve water production and treatment processes.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules according to established procedures and manufacturer recommendations.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Registration as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
