The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has officially released the Standard Two School Based National Assessment (SBNA) Timetable for November 2026. The assessment will take place from 17 November to 18 November 2026, with Reading Skills assessment continuing on 19 November 2026 for schools that have more than 300 registered candidates.
The assessment is designed to evaluate pupils’ basic competencies in Reading, Writing, Basic English Language Skills, and Arithmetic Skills.

Important Instructions for Head Teachers
NECTA has issued the following important guidelines to all head teachers:
- Ensure your school has the official 2026 Standard Two National Assessment Timetable issued by NECTA.
- Confirm that every registered Standard Two pupil participates in all assessment areas:
- Reading Skills
- Writing Skills
- Basic English Language Skills
- Arithmetic Skills
- Conduct every assessment according to the official dates and times provided in the timetable.
- Schools with more than 300 registered candidates that cannot complete the Reading Skills assessment on 18 November 2026 should continue the assessment on 19 November 2026.
- Supervise the assessment according to the Standard Two School Based National Assessment Guidelines available on the NECTA website.
