HelpAge Tanzania is seeking to recruit a qualified, competent, and motivated candidate to fill the position of Social Worker.

(Nduta and Nyarugusu Refugee Camps and Host Communities)
Job Purpose
The Social Worker will support the identification, protection, and case management of Persons with Specific Needs (PSNs), including older women and men, persons with disabilities, and their immediate family members within refugee camps and host communities.
The role aims to enhance protection outcomes, dignity, and wellbeing through:

Routine home visits

Psychosocial support
-
Referrals to appropriate services
-
Strengthening community-based protection (CBP) mechanisms that reinforce family, peer, and community support systems
The position requires strong experience in GBV case management. The Social Worker will implement all stages of the GBV case management process for assigned survivors and individuals at risk, in accordance with survivor-centred principles, inter-agency GBV standards, and national referral pathways. GBV prevention and response will be integrated into wider CBP structures and community accountability systems.
The role may be centre-based or implemented through mobile outreach.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications and Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, Community Psychology, or a related field

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in social work, protection, GBV response, or health programming
-
Proven experience in GBV case management
-
Strong understanding of protection principles, human rights, humanitarian standards, and community-based protection approaches
-
Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely reports
-
Basic computer skills, including MS Word and Excel
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to work effectively within a team and with diverse communities
-
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Desirable Qualifications

Experience working with refugee or displacement-affected populations
-
Ability to speak Kirundi and/or French
