Job Vacancies at Nachingwea District Council January 2026

The Executive Director of Nachingwea District Council invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for fifteen (15) vacant positions within the Council after receiving approval from the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, as detailed below:


1.0 DRIVER GRADE II – POSTS: 2

1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To inspect the vehicle before and after trips to ensure roadworthiness and safety;
ii. To transport staff to various destinations for official duties;
iii. To carry out minor vehicle maintenance;
iv. To deliver and distribute documents when required;
v. To record and maintain all trip details in the vehicle logbook;
vi. To ensure cleanliness of the vehicle; and
vii. To perform any other duties as assigned by the employer.

1.2 QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have:

  • A Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV);

  • A valid Driving License Class C or E with at least one (1) year of driving experience without causing an accident;

  • A certificate qualifying them for the respective license class; and

  • Proof of having attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or any other Government-recognized institution.

2.0 OFFICE ASSISTANT / SECRETARY GRADE II – POSTS: 8

2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Typing letters, reports, and both ordinary and confidential documents;
ii. Receiving visitors, listening to their concerns, and directing them appropriately;
iii. Maintaining records of events, appointments, visitors, meeting schedules, official trips, and work plans;
iv. Retrieving files and documents required for work execution;
v. Receiving and distributing files to relevant officers within departments/sections;
vi. Collecting, keeping, and returning files and documents to their respective offices;
vii. Preparing meeting briefs and arrangements;
viii. Preparing lists of office equipment requirements; and
ix. Performing any other duties assigned by the employer.

2.2 QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have:

  • A Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV);

  • A Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Secretarial Studies from a Government-recognized institution;

  • Passed Shorthand in both Kiswahili and English at a speed of 80 words per minute; and

  • Proficiency in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail, and Publisher, acquired from recognized institutions.

3.0 RECORDS ASSISTANT GRADE II – POSTS: 5

3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Registering incoming correspondence in the incoming mail register;
ii. Registering outgoing correspondence;
iii. Distributing files to action officers;
iv. Receiving returned files from officers;
v. Retrieving records/files/documents as required;
vi. Returning files to racks, filing cabinets, or other storage areas;
vii. Tracking the movement of files within the institution; and
viii. Performing any other duties as assigned by the employer.

3.2 QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have:

  • A Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV or VI);

  • A Diploma or NTA Level 6 in Records Management from a Government-recognized institution; and

  • Computer literacy.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

i. Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years;

iii. Applicants must submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with reliable contact address, telephone number, e-mail address, and names of three (3) referees;
iv. Provisional results, testimonials, statements of results, and Form IV or VI result slips will not be accepted;
v. All applicants must attach a birth certificate certified by an Advocate/Lawyer;
vi. Applicants who were dismissed from Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have clearance from the Chief Secretary;
vii. Public Servants who have obtained qualifications for entry into different cadres must channel their applications through their respective employers;
viii. Public Servants currently employed in entry-level positions are not eligible to apply, in accordance with Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30 November 2010;
ix. All applications must be accompanied by certified academic and professional certificates, including Form IV, Form VI (where applicable), and relevant professional qualifications;
x. Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure their certificates are verified by the relevant authorities (TCU, NACTE, and NECTA);
xi. Submission of forged information or qualifications will lead to legal action;
xii. Application letters must be written in Kiswahili or English;
xiii. The deadline for application submission is Friday, 7th February 2026;
