1. Sharia and Products Manager (Headquarters)

Job Summary

The successful candidate will support the Head of Sharia and Products in ensuring that all banking products, services, and operations comply with Islamic Sharia principles while contributing to product development, research, staff training, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in reviewing Sharia and product policies and operational manuals annually.
  • Prepare and review financing contracts, documentation, and product packages.
  • Prepare product papers for the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) and Board meetings.
  • Ensure fair profit distribution to depositors according to the Profit Distribution Model (PDM).
  • Conduct research on Islamic banking products, Fatwas, and Sharia-related matters.
  • Guide bank staff and customers on Islamic banking and financing products.
  • Identify product issues and recommend timely Sharia-compliant solutions.
  • Analyze Islamic banking products available in the market and recommend improvements.
  • Train staff on Islamic banking products, financing procedures, documentation, and pricing.
  • Keep the bank updated on new Sharia standards issued by the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB), AAOIFI, OIC Fiqh Academy, and IFSB.
  • Represent the bank in internal and external meetings, forums, and customer engagements.
  • Review marketing materials and communication content to ensure Sharia compliance.
  • Support financing departments and branches to ensure financing facilities comply with approved product manuals and Sharia principles.
  • Monitor inventory transactions to ensure assets are sold before customer utilization where applicable.
  • Participate in the development of new Islamic banking products and enhancement of existing products.
  • Prepare training materials and coordinate Sharia and product training programs.
  • Assist in handling Sharia compliance matters.
  • Conduct quarterly product performance assessments and prepare reports.
  • Administer Charity and Zakat Fund activities.
  • Support product awareness campaigns and promote Islamic banking knowledge through various communication platforms.

Required Competencies

  • Good understanding of the Tanzanian Islamic banking environment.

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Banking and Finance; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Commerce, or related field with additional certification or Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance.

Added Advantage

  • Professional qualification in Islamic Banking, Sharia (Islamic Jurisprudence), or Islamic Studies.

2. Branch Manager (Mwanza)

Amana Bank is also seeking a highly experienced professional to lead its Mwanza Branch.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of banking experience, with strong expertise in Branch Management.

Reports To: Head of Retail Banking
