The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) has officially announced 23 academic job vacancies for qualified Tanzanian professionals. The university is seeking lecturers, assistant lecturers, researchers, librarians, and tutorial assistants to support teaching, research, and community service across its seven schools and one academic institute.

Assistant Lecturer Positions (6 Posts)

  • Assistant Lecturer – Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology – 1 Post
  • Assistant Lecturer – Clinical Nursing – 2 Posts
  • Assistant Lecturer – Parasitology and Medical Entomology – 2 Posts
  • Assistant Lecturer – Sociology – 1 Post

Research Position

  • Assistant Research Fellow – Pharmaceutical Microbiology – 1 Post

Library Positions

Qualifications

Applicants must possess the academic qualifications specified for each position, including:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s Degree or PhD (where applicable)
  • Required GPA as indicated in the advertisement
  • Professional registration where applicable
  • Degrees obtained from recognized universities

Applicants with foreign qualifications must have verification from TCU, NACTVET (formerly NACTE), and NECTA, where applicable.


Main Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Conduct tutorials, seminars, and practical sessions
  • Supervise research projects and dissertations
  • Conduct research and publish scientific findings
  • Participate in curriculum development
  • Offer consultancy and community outreach services
  • Mentor junior academic staff
  • Attend academic conferences, workshops, and seminars
  • Perform other duties assigned by university management

General Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Tanzanian citizens.
  • Be 45 years old or below (except public servants).
  • Submit an updated CV with reliable contacts.
  • Attach certified copies of:
    • Birth Certificate
    • Academic certificates and transcripts
    • Form IV and Form VI certificates
    • Professional registration certificates (where applicable)
  • Upload a recent passport-size photograph.
  • Provide three reputable referees.

Salary Scale

Successful applicants will be employed under the following salary scales:

  • Lecturer (PhD): PUTS 3.3
  • Lecturer: PUTS 3.2
  • Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Research Fellow/Assistant Librarian: PUTS 2.1
  • Assistant Librarian Trainee/Tutorial Assistant: PUTS 1.1
