On behalf of the Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) invites applications from qualified, competent, and result-oriented Tanzanians with high integrity and strong motivation to fill the following vacant positions:
1.0 ASSISTANT METEOROLOGICAL OFFICER II – 22 POSTS
1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To assist in supervising the collection of meteorological data for analysis and preparation of weather charts;
- To code, decode, and transmit meteorological and weather messages;
- To plot meteorological observations on charts;
- To conduct upper air observations, including operating radiosondes and pilot balloon ascents;
- To process autographic data and compute basic statistical analyses;
- To receive, edit, and transmit meteorological messages, data, and products;
- To verify the accuracy and quality of collected data for effective meteorological service delivery in areas such as agrometeorology, hydrometeorology, marine, environment, and seismology;
- To collect meteorological data and prepare flight plans and related documentation for aviation purposes;
- To communicate and disseminate weather information to various users and stakeholders;
- To receive and transmit aeronautical information between aircraft and ground stations;
- To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
1.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Holder of a Diploma in Meteorology from a recognized institution.
1.3 SALARY SCALE
- Salary and benefits will be offered in accordance with the TMA Salary Scale.
