Bukoba Regional Referral Hospital is among of the oldest Hospitals in Tanzania. The Hospital began in 1923 as a German Military camp, then gradually changed to dispensary and finally became a full hospital. On 12 November, 2010 the Government of Tanzania through newspaper number 828 announced to upgrade the Hospital to Regional Referral Hospital. The Hospital is located at the centre in Bukoba municipal in Kagera Region, north western corner of Tanzania about 1450 km from Dar es Salaam and 450 km from Mwanza.
