The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is a premier public university in Tanzania, established in 2007 through Article 1 of the Charter of Incorporation under the Universities Act No. 7 of 2005. The University offers a wide range of academic and research programmes in biomedical, clinical, and allied health sciences across seven Schools and one Academic Institute.
In order to strengthen implementation of its academic, research, and business development activities, MUHAS invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the following contractual and volunteer positions:
1.0 RESEARCH PROJECT POSITIONS
1.1 Project Name
Consortium of Research Studies in Children under MUHAS
1.2 Type of Employment
Full-time contractual employment for a period of one (1) year.
1.3 Job Summary
A. Clinical Officers
The Clinical Officers will conduct clinical assessments, collect study data (both electronically and in hard copy), provide medical care to study participants, and obtain specimens for research purposes.
B. Assistant Nursing Officers
Assistant Nursing Officers will conduct clinical assessments, collect study data (both electronically and in hard copy), provide nursing care to study participants, and obtain specimens for research purposes.
2.0 CLINICAL OFFICER – 4 POSTS
2.1 Duties and Responsibilities
-
Conduct clinical examinations and assessments;
-
Collect, manage, and document research data;
-
Provide medical care and support to study participants;
-
Collaborate with research team members;
-
Adhere to study protocols and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines;
-
Perform any other duties as assigned by the relevant authority.
2.2 Qualification and Experience
-
Holder of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution;
-
Must be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT);
-
At least 1–2 years of clinical experience;
-
Experience in research studies will be an added advantage.
2.3 Salary
A competitive remuneration package will be offered.
3.0 ASSISTANT NURSING OFFICER – 4 POSTS
3.1 Duties and Responsibilities
-
Conduct clinical examinations and assessments;
-
Collect, manage, and document research data;
-
Provide nursing care and support to study participants;
-
Collaborate with research team members;
-
Adhere to study protocols and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines;
-
Perform any other duties as assigned by the relevant authority.
3.2 Qualification and Experience

Holder of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution;
-
Must be registered with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwives Council;
-
At least 1–2 years of clinical experience;
-
Experience in research studies will be an added advantage.
3.3 Salary

4.0 BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UNIT POSITION
4.1 Type of Employment
Full-time contractual employment for a period of two (2) years.
4.2 BUSINESS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER II – 1 POST
4.2.1 Job Summary
The Business Administrative Officer II will provide administrative, clerical, and coordination support to the MUHAS Business Development Unit (MBDU) to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and effective implementation of business development and investment activities.
4.2.2 Duties and Responsibilities
-
Provide administrative support to Analysts and the Business Development Coordinator;
-
Coordinate logistics for meetings, trainings, workshops, and official engagements;
-
Maintain proper filing systems and archiving of business and contractual documents;
-
Assist in preparation of reports, proposals, presentations, and briefing notes;
-
Manage office supplies, assets, and administrative requisitions;
-
Facilitate internal and external communication and follow-up on action points;
-
Perform any other related duties as assigned.
4.2.3 Qualification and Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Planning, Development Finance, or Investment Planning from a recognized institution;
-
At least three (3) years of relevant working experience.
4.2.4 Salary
Salary Scale: PGSS 6.1
5.0 SCHOOL OF PHARMACY ENTERPRISE CENTRE (SOPEC)
5.1 Project Summary
The School of Pharmacy Enterprise Centre is engaged in the production of:

Multipurpose soap

Hand wash
-
Mouthwash
-
Methylated spirit
5.2 Nature of Engagement
Volunteer position based at the School of Pharmacy Enterprise Centre (SOPEC).
6.0 PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNICIAN (VOLUNTEER) – 2 POSTS
6.1 Duties and Responsibilities
-
Assist in formulation and production of Enterprise Centre products;
-
Ensure proper handling, packaging, and labeling of products;
-
Maintain Good Manufacturing and Hygiene Practices (GMP);
-
Assist in quality control and production documentation;
-
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
6.2 Qualification and Experience
-
Holder of a Certificate or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution;
-
Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical production and quality control.
