How to Get a NaPA reference Number in Tanzania

1. Go to the NaPA website or app

   • Visit the official NaPA portal: napa.mawasiliano.go.tz APPLY HERE NAPA NUMBER 

   • You can also download the NaPA mobile app (on Google Play / App Store). NaPA

2. Find your address

   • On the website, go to “Ijue Anwani Yako” (Know Your Address). NaPA

   • Select your region (Mkoa), district, ward (Kata), and street (Mtaa) to locate your physical address. NaPA

   • You can also search by your NIDA number. NaPA+2NaPA+2

3. Register / Log in

   • Use your NIDA number or phone number to register or log in to the NaPA system.

   • When first registering, you may need to verify your identity via OTP (one-time password) sent to your phone.

4. Request a NaPA Reference Number

   • Once your details are in the system and your area is mapped, you can generate your “Reference Number” (this is the NaPA number).

   • There is a guide (“Mwongozo”) from the Ministry of Communications that explains how address numbering works and how to get your number. Apply for a Letter of Residence (optional but useful)

   • If needed (for things like student loans), you can request a Barua ya Utambulisho (letter of residence) through the NaPA platform. NaPA

5. What if your area is not yet mapped

   • Visit your local ward office (mtendaji wa mtaa / kata) and ask whether your area is covered in NaPA’s mapping. According to user reports, if your address is not yet in the system, they may help with registration.
