Electricity transmission and distribution throughout the Zanzibar Archipelago are handled by the state-owned utility company Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO) . It was founded in 2006 as the State Fuel and Power Corporation’s replacement, and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar owns all of it.
